On Wednesday I'll be getting a new PC along with an x800 Pro VIVO -> XT. I'm just wondering which drivers right now would give me the best performance, I've heard talk of beta drivers but have no idea where to get them, or which perform the best. I heard the newest set gave some increases in a few games like D3 and that sort of thing, so was wondering which drivers would be ideal at the moment.

I hate uninstalling and re-installing different video drivers, it makes me feel dirty, just want to install the best one off the bat until they release another.

I heard the AI feature provides a few extra FPS, should I go with the Omegas?

b4 omega install, i uninstalled atitool, radlinker, all ati drivers. ran dc 3.3 and removed all traces of old ati drivers.

old drivers were ati betas(ram hotfix).

omega is nice, comes with built in radlinker. i put ati tool back on (to control fan speed). only difference from previous driver settings was that i turned off fastwrites.

i got 60 fps in doom3 timedemo. before i got 65. i put on AI and i got 65 again. AI normal and high setting both gave 65. i couldnt notice any IQ differences.

surely fastwrites wont make a 5 FPS difference in D3? im guessin the ATI betas had AI built into them somehow.

oh yeah and you will have to download the WDM drivers for the VIVO features.

I don't need VIVO features, it's only a VIVO for flashing purposes obviously. Just want the fastest drivers. I was going for Omegas + Radlinker for OC'ing, any problem with letting fans take care of themselves?

you can install the WDM drivers once you have installed omega, it only changes the VIVO stuff.

its worthwhile otherwise windows annoys with found new hardware device.
