New x800 GTO problem

I just got a sapphire x800 gto to replace my 9700 pro but I'm getting a blank screen when I boot up. I get no beeps and a message saying there's no signal to the monitor before the monitor cuts off to powersave mode. I've tried reseating the card a few times with no luck. The fan is spinning on the card. I have it connected with it's own power cord comming from the power supply.

I didn't do anything to the drivers and just took out the old card and put in the new card.

Okay, I uninstalled the drivers and ran that cleaning program. I then put in the x800 again but I'm still getting nothing. My power supply should be enough to handle the new card, right?

Yes, it should be. I'm running a 6800gs on a 400W smartpower, so I'm sure you're fine.
If you test without your HD hooked up and you still get no video, then it might be DOA. :(
 
Sounds like it is DOA. But what you can do is unplug the power from the card and if it is working properly, it should tell you to attach the power cable. If it does not, return it.
 
try reseating the video card... Usually the card is not seated properly if you do not get any video... Happens all the time.
 
I've tried reseating several times. Perhaps this one has to be just right and I'm just not getting it right.

I've noticed that when I put my old 9700 back in it now takes longer for the pc to do the IDE search.

Could the problem be with the AGP 3.0 vs AGP 2.0? I see in the system requirements that it says the following:

Radeon® X800 graphics technology is available in two bus configurations from ATI : AGP bus configuration (8X/4X/ Universal AGP 3.0) and PCI Express™ x16 lane bus configuration.

Reading farther down on the ati page it seems to indicate that the P4 should work. It shows:

System Requirements:
Radeon® X800 XL, Radeon® X800 PRO, Radeon® X800 XT and Radeon® X800 XT PLATINUM EDITION require a connection to your PC's internal power supply for operation. Consult your system builder or OEM to ensure your system has an adequate power supply. Otherwise, ATI recommends a 300-Watt power supply or greater to ensure normal system operation where a number of other internal devices are installed.

I just realized that I stated the wrong mobo, I have the Abit IC7-G raid in this machine that I'm trying to use the x800 gto in.
 
Sounds like it might just be a dud card. Try it on another machines if you can, or with another power supply.
