My P67 system currently uses a 850W psu (silver+), but I am thinking about upgrading to a x79 system based on a 3930k.

I will also be overvolting (most likely 1.3v+) my dual classified 680's, and I have no clue how much power they will use. Do I just add the power draw for individual OC'd 680's together?

Will the combined power draw of the above upgrades be too much for my psu? Should I be looking at 1000w gold? Or do I need a 1200?

Assume that you have a good 850W psu, it will handle the 3930k and 2x GTX 680 with ease. That system will likely peak at ~ 700w when you fully loaded everything.

Im about to do exactly this, my 2700k @ 5.0ghz and 680 sli at 1400mhz core and 7000mhz memory only pulled 601watt during 64 player BF3.

Should be interesting how the swap over goes with my Bronze 875watt.

Im currently using the XFX black 850W.

Geno you have my exact same setup. Same clocks. etc, however I've read reviews where the 3930k OC'd consumes 211W+ under load.

So the real question is will OC/OV'd 680's (where one uses around 370W under load) be too much along with an OC'd 3930k be too much?

The GTX 480 when OCed is not even close to that 370W. Two GTX 680 with OC ~ 500W at most, one 3930k OCed ~ 200w. In the worst case, your whole setup will peaked at around 700-750w (that's when you run Linpack with AVX on the CPU@5.0Ghz and Furmark on your 680s simultaneously). I don't know why you guys are so obsessed with these power consumptions

Your XFX 850w is perfectly capable of powering a 3930k and two GTX 680s with all of them overclocked to the max.

IMO, its due to people thinking that newer and newer stuff consume more power since its faster.

My mistake, I saw the charts as just the GPU power draw when in reality it was the system power draw.

New question. I just bought another classified, and an evbot. So now I have 3 oc+ov'd 680's...

1000W or 1200W, just to be safe? I might be going water cooling too.

Are you running surround or 1 big monitor @ a mass res and 120hz?

running a 30 inch zr30w right now.

Probably going 3x 120hz samsungs in the near future.... as Vega has proved 3 2560x1440 @ 120hz is impossible to drive with whats on the current market. :(
