Just got the official word from Vijay Pande. These new bonus units have indeed NOT started flowing yet. Here's a direct quote from Vijay a few minutes ago:

They haven't been flowing yet, except for a few bursts and beta tests, but we hope to get those going out today.

There had been a lot of speculation that the increase of <15 point projects the past few days, and the projects causing the problems with the stats server, were these new bonus units but this is not the case.

So, it's confirmed that they will be released today. BTW, what does he mean by "bursts?"

Well, it's confirmed that they are going to try and release them today. :D Not sure what he means by "bursts".

Probably means unleashing some early units out to unsuspecting folders. :D

Here's some more information about the "bonused" AMBER WUs:

These are currently running, and have been running since last Tuesday. There was a slight hiccup in getting them up and running because we needed to make the simulation lengths of the WU longer (10ns instead of 2ns) in order to avoid overloading the stats server.

Some of the beta testers have noticed that in order to get the "bonused" WU, they had to turn off the -bigWU setting, or set their RAM down (to 256MB, for instance). The more special settings you have, the more likely that our assignment server will assign WUs that require them. Conversely, the fewer of these settings you have, the more likely you'll get the bonuses.

Additionally, we plan to have the assignment weight go up for these projects soon, so hopefully you'll see more of these.

One clarification. Although Vince recommends minimal client tweaking and flags to get these WU's, you still need the -advmethods to get them.

Does anyone have the project number range of these WUs?

That would be good to know.

I just reconfigured one of my XP boxen, all the settings have been changed as outlined in your previous quote... and now it's waiting for work..... weird....

I'll let it sit for a few hours and see what happens. If I manage to pick anything different up I'll post it here...

For the moment, the project range is 4519-4521.

Erm.... it seems I have picked up an 892?

I've looked and I can't seem to find any info about this one.... anyone know what it is?

Yeah anyone picked one of these new WU's up yet? My P4 work machine is still on a 2452. :(

For the moment, the project range is 4519-4521.
You mean the new WUs?? If so, I completed one of these and it gave me the best PPD with the standard client I have seen in a long time. It was somewhere around 80PPD for a 1.1GHz Coppermine PIII.

I didn't have the -advmethods flag, though. Here is a portion of the log:

Apollo: Yeah, that's one of the new ones alright. Cool

Sweet, I woke up this morning to find two clients each working on a bonus Amber WU - each one is doing a 4519.

Ah... thanks:)

I had been using this as my resource...

Fahinfo is great, I just hate how far you have to go digging into it to find anything. Its also valuable in that it keeps the old projects that are no longer visible on the chart you linked.
