New World Amazon Studios MMORPG

I jumped back in last week after stopping for the second time around the time of the first Winter/thanksgiving event over a year ago. I really miss the world in this game, its just a cozy place to be even if you're just mostly being a casual solo player. Did the expansion story, leveled up to 65 and roughly 695 average gearscore from that and just doing elite chest runs. Speaking of I really like doing those for some reason.

Wanna start digging into some of the expeditions I never did starting with Ennead.

Yea it felt super grindy to me when I first played it. I'm hoping the combat is at least more fun this time around.

I really love the combat, especially compared to something like Throne and Liberty. Feels more like a traditional action RPG. I've heard people complain about animations but I think I heard people talk about how it was worse early on? The game has seemingly changed a lot since I first played it back at launch years ago.

I picked it up again when they did the first round of "fresh start" servers over a year ago and it was already quite different then. I seem to do that with this game, play for a few months then shelve it and then when I come back, its a lot of fun again. We'll see how long this round lasts.

When I came back last week there was a whole bunch of new world tour abbreviations that I hadn't heard of before, had to do some googling plus watching where others were teleporting to lol.

I got New World the day it released. It was supper bad upon release in many ways but it has been greatly improved over the years. I personally really enjoyed the game but I always make sure to mention that have never been into the RPG genre; New World was my first MMORPG so I have no other game to compare it to. I haven't played it in almost a year but I keep thinking about going back to it.

At 12:30 eastern (about 20 minutes from now, as of this post), New World will be down for the new Aeternum update. The game will be playable tomorrow starting at 6 AM eastern. Through Steam, PC players can update their game from New World to New World Aeternum starting at 12:30 eastern.

I just played for a couple hours. Haven't touched New World in about 10 months but it seems pretty much the same as the original.

I played New World when it first came out. Looks like the campaign has more story elements to it now and is a bit more streamlined. I am enjoying the Void class so far.

Curious if anyone still plays this but it's officially dead now.

I took a long break from it and got back into it a couple months ago. Just a couple weeks ago they release new content including a new territory on the map, some more main story quests, and bumped the max character level from 65 to 70. All seemed good until I logged in just now and saw this message:

Has Amazon released a single successful game yet? One that they didn't just publish (and censor...) in NA like Lost Ark or Blue Protocol?

Amazon Games is working on a next gen MMO based on Lord of the Rings using the New World engine.

They started development in 2023, no word on a release date.

Ugh 😫

Projects like the Lord of the Rings MMORPG have been cancelled, the report says, and the remaining in-house Amazon Games teams will focus on creating "casual and AI-focused games."

I hope his game comes out in the next two years anyway I was thinking of picking up a Alpha Key. I don't think I would pay a sub for Ashes of Creation though
I mean you would have to pay yearly and just play his game while other games are coming out that same time mainly single player games. I do think Ashes of Creation is going to be good but
Subscription based good I'm not sure will work anymore alot of people just dont' have time to dedicate to just one game all year round. I still hope Patheon Rise of the Fallen pulls it off but there are only 500 people playing daily on Steam. There was talk about controller support for Ashes of Creation which isn't out yet being hunched over the PC for Months at a time isn't really healthy.

I respect Amazon for their effort. Amazon tried making something new instead of buying a development studio or IP and destroying them like so many others do.

Their problem was they thought they could make something great by just tossing more money at it, and the suits wouldn't stop interfering with the creative process.
