New Wolfenstein

oh I heard rumors of a new wolfenstein, I can't wait for this game! I still occasionally play rtcw. The site is down forme too, hopefully itll come out before xmas :eek:

Tod Hollenshead mentioned something about it in a TV interview months and months ago which evidently turned out to be a slip up. I was hoping we'd see it at E3 this year but it never showed up. Doom 3 engine with huge out door areas in the DAYLIGHT with dozens of enemy AI is gonna be nice.
 
I played a lot of RTCW and ET. I hope they do a Wolfenstein mod for the new Enemy Territory.
 
RTCW and now ET are some of my favorite multiplayer games still.
I really hope they continue that type of multiplayer experiance in the new RTCW. Oh yea, and zombie nazi's gotta have my zombie nazi fix.... :)
 
No kidding. If nazis and zombies were getting old, there's always Wolfenstein to get the blood pumping again, with zombie nazis. Funny how two wrongs can make a right!

This sounds good but I sure wish id would create something original. I know that these sequels are money in the bank but it would be great to actually play something new or with a different game style, mechanics etc.. :( .
 
Rock on. Is it me, or does it sound like they are going to be using a completely new engine for this game? Whoever mentioned the Doom3 engine earlier might just be wrong...hopefully. :D
 
I'd like a new engine, personally. And blasting away at Nazis and zombies... never, ever gets old.

Actually if you go back a year or so Carmack says that the next thing after the Doom 3 engine would be a totally new series indepenent from anything they had ever done before. I guess that will be the game to showcase his last new game engine as he has been quoted as saying "I think I have one more left in me" or something to that effect. If they were starting to work on it that long ago I'm sure its in development now.
 
So raven is making it, thats new news. Anyhow it will be a doom3 engine game most likely with the same terrain stuff that quakewars is pimping. Id software is already working on their next game/engine, which will be new and original. The engine is most likely to have everything doom3 did but with soft shadows, hdr, parallax mapping and who knows what else carmack has up his sleeve.
 
I can't believe it! I was just thinking this morning about how much I liked the last Wolfenstein and how I wanted to play it again, but with a face lift (better gfx).

Here's hoping it comes out soon. :p
 
The new Wolf is gonna be graphicly insane if it follows the trend of RTCW. I remeber that it choked and killed Geforce3's if you added much resoloution and any AA. And the Geforce 3's came out about a month or two AFTER it was released if I remember correctly. Pure hell on my Voodoo5 :eek:

New version of the beach map for multiplayer=teh win!
 
To be honest, i'm pretty tired of any World War 2 related game now. I guess i'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully by the time this comes out, my weariness of WW2 games will be long gone.................
 
If anything, they better keep the multiplayer format of the originals. RTCWs teamplay was the best of ANY game. The classes completely complemented each other and the maps were awesome. I am glad it will be out for 360 though. I just use my Mac for school right now but when the 360 comes out I could just sell my xbox and get the new one. Saves me from buying a new comp to play it lol

Who the fuck can't enjoy Killing a bad guy who is evil on so many levels the devil him self takes the phone off the hook just to kill them for a few hours!!!!

On another note.
Beach MP demo was the best demo I have ever played... EVER!

When that came out I played it for days on end, one of my kidneys almost shut down on me from the overly long sprints of defending the beach or storming it!

I was ripping at the masses to get a copy of RTCW when it came out!
 
hmm simultaneous console and PC release means that it has been made primarily for console and only ported to pc. This usually spells disaster for the PC version, I don't have my hopes up for this game.

Or could it mean that raven has already ported quake4 to the xbox and this is only a "mod" of the same engine?
 
LOL, and I thought you guys were talking about Enemy Territory or something...

I guess this means I gotta get off my ass and play it before this 'new' one comes out, because the last Wolfenstein game I played was Wolf3D back about 13 or 14 years ago.

So this is 3 years old, and I've not heard another word about the RTCW sequel. I want some news DAMMIT! Is there anything floating around out there I missed?

Well shoot, not looking at the date, I ran to the id site and searched...and searched....In spite of all this Diablo 3 hoopla, I thought, no way, another of my favorite series resurrected! Now will there be another Ultima as well?? Oh wait...my mistake.

You know how hard it is to do something no one has ever done? its getting harder and harder everyday, this is why we are seeing so many sequels and returns to older games.

[edit] Just noticed this was a 3 year old thread, oh well.
 
I can't wait!! My only issue is that I hope the id team doesn't become swamped by delivering Quake Live, Doom 4, RAGE, and now Wolf with Raven. I'd hate for the quality of the product(s) to slip because they're over-stretching their staff.
