Hey, I am just getting into liquid cooling, and have a couple of questions.

A little background would be in order I guess. I just picked up this kit from Microcenter for 135 bux. It installed in just fine, and everything is nice and quiet, except that the fan on my 4850 vid card is now the loudest thing in my system.

So, I would like to add a vid card water block for my Diamond 4850. I also need to get some more cooling fluid for my system. I think I want to add a second or a bigger radiator also.

My questions are:

1) Does anyone know a good place to shop for vid card water blocks or know of a model or brand they recommend? I just run stock speed, so I do not need anything fancy. Quarter inch barbed fittings is what the diverter valves in the kit has for the vid card loop.

2) Will car antifreeze for 5 bux a gallon work in computer cooling systems instead of the stuff the computer stores sell for 20-30 bux a quart?

3) I am looking at this radiator. It it a good price. It looks big enough to handle things if I add the vid card to the water system.

I've always used a mixture of Zerex brand antifreeze and distilled water... did fine by me back when my rig was on water. I actually even added a few drops of red food coloring to get a blood red look through the tubes, never had any problems whatsoever.

As far as the Swiftech MCR220... I've never used one personally, but I've heard many good things about them and the price is decent... so I think it would be OK.

Sorry I can't be of anymore assistance, but as far as your second question... I would definitely make your own custom mix of antifreeze and distilled water, I've tried some of the special purpose coolants and ultimately they worked no better that Zerex and distilled water.
Oh yeah, some people say you can use Water Wetter (found @ auto stores) as well... though I've never personally tried this.

I just want to make sure the antifreeze mixture will inhibit algae growth. I'm pretty sure it will since I never found gunk in my cars cooling systems. What percent did you mix them at? I've seen postings on the net varying from straight antifreeze to 5 % antifreeze. And of course everyone claims that their mix is da bomb.

My case does not have a side window, so I don't care about looks. :D Of course if I go red, it will look like it is bleeding if it ever springs a leak.

I personally never had a problem with algae growth... I think the propylene glycol in it inhibits growth pretty well.
I don't know if my mix was da bomb or not :D, but I used 10% Antifreeze and the rest was distilled water... so 10/90 was my mix.
 
Use PTNuke or some pure silver for anti algae. Only use pentosin (anti freeze) if you're mixing metals. I can't tell since the link you gave me seems to load uber slow =[

Ah yes you are mixing metals. So you will need the pentosin.
