I'm looking to build a new water cooling setup from scratch. I want to start with a CPU block and GPU block, and eventually add a second GPU block, then maybe a chipset block. I will definitely have CPU + GPU + GPU soon, and then maybe add a chipset block depending on what motherboard I'm using in 6-12 months. Right now I have an e8400 and a 4870 1GB. In the very near future, I will be adding another 4870 and upgrading to a quad core. I also might upgrade my motherboard.
In planning this rig I want to be able to cool a Core i7 + 2x 4870 1GB cards. I want the radiator and pump to last me a long time.
I was thinking of starting with a 3x120 mm radiator, with 3 very quiet fans. Beyond that, I have no idea. I don't even know if 3 quiet fans is better than 2 heavy duty fans. I know I don't want any aluminum in the loop. I also know that I will never want to cool below ambient.
I have read the sticky posts, but I'm still kind of unsure. How do you go about planning a set of components to work together, in terms of flow restriction, pressure, gallons per hour, etc?
