Appears to be a new Vista X-fi driver via windows update. The old one ended in version .1271, I believe. This one ends in .1281. They are dated the same.
new drivers didn't fix my 4.1 speaker problem. my 2 rear speakers have a hollow sound to them for some reason. not sure why. they sound perfectly fine in the sound configure test but in winamp, games, or anything else the sound is very hollow and low
