I know you guys hate seeing these but I'm truly desperate and i know I can rely on your expertise.

I don't like my GF4 TI 4200. It's falling behind very badly in games today, especially CSS and Call Of Duty, two of my favorite games right now. I've had my TI for over 2 years, but two years is starting to show.

In comes the Geforce 6800 series. Wow. What amazing improvements over my TI! However, I'm at a serious dilemma. I want a new card. The 6800 vanilla seems great, and it's a steal right now at $250 at BestBuy! However, I want a futureproof card. Another TI---enough to last me two years.

But as you can see with the use I got out of my TI, I'm not a hardwareguru. I play all my games 1024x768, no AA or AF at all. Settings in games medium to high. Yeah. Strange for [H]ard, huh?

Well, what, in your opinion is the best card for my needs? I was gonna jump on the 6800 LE on Newegg, but Newegg doesn't carry them anymore. I was then considering the 250 6800 NU and see if I can enable the pipes, but the BFG is not a strong overclocker.

What's your opinion?

Most 6800 cards can't have the pipes enabled. They are physically inoperative, either deliberately or maybe because they are rejected GT/Ultra cores.

If you want to be as future-proof as possible, get a 6800 GT. I've heard the most best stuff about PNY, actually. With better cooling you can get past stock Ultra clock speeds for $150 less than the Ultra.
 
well if you only play your games at 1028/768 and no aa or af and medium to high settings the 6200nu or the 6600nu is is the way to go (cant find the agp version though) but I would reccomend a 6800nu with the pipes enabled if you wanna get 2 years out of it

enabling 16 pipes doesn't always work
 
I don't know...maybe I should go with the EVGA 6800 LE off ZipZoom because it has 256mb of memory...
 
any of the 6800 series cards are great. I own a 6800gt and love it. If you can afford the GT I would go for that.

MAkes sense, expecially with the successes of BIOS flashing with that card...check out the Anandtech froums for details if you doubt me...
