Hey everyone, I'm planning in Buying a new Video Card, and I'm really in doubt between a GTX650Ti and a Radeon HD 7850. I think the main difference is that GTX has 128bit memory interface and the ATI has 256.

Brands:

ATI = Gigabyte (Does it worth spent a little more and get a Sapphire?)
NVIDIA = EVGA

Any advice?

Thanks!

whats the price you'll be getting for those cards?.

GTX650Ti = 260 Dollars
HD 7850 (Gigabyte) = 320 Dollars
HD 7850 (Sapphire) = 370 Dollars

wooooow.. you sure? 320 and 370 bucks for a 7850?.. bud look at This HD 7970 345$ that will blow off away both 7850 and 650TI by a BIG amount..

Possibly not in the US? I'd pick the 7850 out of the two myself.

What games do you play, or what's the planned use? For your budget, I would go with an EVGA 760 Superclocked with ACX cooling system...they are very fast, overclockable, quieter than any other high end card, and Newegg has it for $265 here

That would be my personal choice.

My next review will have a 650 Ti Boost compared to a 7850. Might be relevant to your interests - if I had to guess, it will be publishing next week.

Also, I would suggest focusing on ONLY the 2GB variants of each of those cards (as they're both available with 1GB of memory). What does that do to pricing? By the numbers you posted, you're clearly not in the US...

Personally I would go for the sapphire 7850.

I say this as a technician who specializes in high-end gaming systems.

OP go with the Sapphire HD 7850. unlocked voltage and a good dual x cooler. there is no comparison. GTX 650 Ti with the 128 bit memory is a much slower card. in fact even the HD 7790 is faster than GTX 650 Ti.

HD 7850 is faster than GTX 650 Ti boost especially when you consider that a HD 7850 at 860 mhz matches a GTX 650 Ti boost running at 1033+ Mhz. HD 7850 will compete with GTX 660 once you get it to similar clocks with both cards trading blows depending on game. the avg OC on HD 7850 with voltage tweaking is 1100 - 1150 mhz.

Go with the 7850!!! (2GB)

That GTX 650ti is no match.

If you consider the pricing that OP has wherever he is in the world and that going to the 7850 will cost him 25-50% more than the 650 Ti (Boost?), that's not going to translate 25-50% more real world performance as the 7850 (at stock) and the 650 Ti Boost are more or less gameplay equals at 1080p.

That GTX 650ti is no match.

If you mean to say the 650 Ti BOOST is no match, then I'd have to disagree. They're actually quite close in performance.

What are you using the card for? Gaming?
If gaming, what games?
Whats the rest of your system specs?
What resolution?

Without this info, all the posts above this one might as well just be "Durrr I like turtles".

the OP clearly says GTX 650 Ti. thats much slower card.

I would say the HD 7850 is a GTX 660 equivalent for gamers. if you want guaranteed performance get a HD 7850 at 1 Ghz like HIS iceq turbo or PCS+. even at stock this would match a GTX 660. overclock it further to 1100 - 1150 mhz and you are on par with GTX 660 OC.

GTX 650 Ti boost is no match for HD 7850. it has much lesser OC headroom and scales lesser with OC. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

7850 (Sapphire) if your budget permits. I've had interesting (bad) things happen to my Gigabyte hardware...

I think the best bang for the buck are the 660 series. I currently own two 550 Ti's and if I had to jump to a single card I would definitely get a 660.

AMD on the other side, has been very price aggressive which is great.

Given the branding confusion and shenanigans between the 650 Ti and 650 Ti BOOST skus, I brought up the difference to make sure we're talking apples to apples. My reviewing experience has been with the BOOST variety, so I can't add much value to the other side of it.

When I describe the 650 Ti BOOST as being equivalent to the 7850, that is assuming the 7850 is at stock speeds. Of course, if you compare max OC on the 7850 to max OC to the 650 Ti BOOST, the 7850 will burn past it by a significant margin, however, the OP was not asking about max OC to max OC as part of his decision making criteria.

If you're running Linux, and buy ATI/AMD, you'll be in a world of hurt.

Well, sorry to don't answer fast. I'm running on Windows, my config is:

MB Intel Fatal1ty H87 1150
Intel Core i5-4570 3,2GHz 6MB
(Waiting for Video Card)
4x4MB 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance RAM

And Yes, I'm not from USA or EUROPE (I'm from Brazil) and that's why it's so expansive. I will buy it for games but I think I've already make my choice. I'm taking the Sapphire 7850.

And thanks for the attention everybody!
