Okay, I recently came into some money (tax return) and was wondering. Do I either purchase a 19"lcd monitor and a new video card (6600GS I believe) I currently have a 9700pro agp. Upgrading the motherboard to PCI-E is not an option at this point. Or do I purchase a 24" Wide screen from Dell (don't remember the model off the top of my head). Could my video card handle it? I mainly play WoW among other games (FEAR, GUN) and so forth. Any help would be greatly appricated.

I have a Dell 2005fpw (widescreen 20") and love it but if you are a stickler for a good picture, I would recommend the 19" lcd and 6600gs. I am constantly upgrading my video card so I can run games in widescreen and at the correct resolution. The 24" you are looking at has an even higher resolution.

When I play FEAR the space taken up on my screen is probably comparable to a 15"lcd. I think it runs in 1024X768 and my native resolution is 1680x1050. I have a 6800GT in my system right now.

Well I upgraded to the 19" LCD in my sig about 1.5 years ago and I wish I would have gotten a widescreen. More and more games are going that way now. It depends on what your video card is now, but if you can afford it, I say get the 24" dell and be done with it.

I'd go widescreen 24" right now if I were you... your whole system sounds like it's going to need a rehaul in the near future... so why buy to replace? rather get something thats going to last you longer than your internal components and when you have the money, you can get a pcie board with a nice pcie card.

Yeah, upgrading the monitor will last you through upgrades, whereas your computer will need to be replaced sooner than the monitor. So go monitor! :)

Get the 24" LCD. Your curent vid card will not be able to handle many games at 1920x1200 res., but you will love the monitor anyway. Then when you get more money in, you can upgrade your entire system.

How about the 20" widescreen Viewsonic? It seems better then the Dell, and it's widely available.
