new video card thoughts?

i'm thinking about selling my 9800gtx and the water block i have on it and going to an ati card for some crossfirex goodness, but i don't know what to get. should i be looking for:

2x 4850's
1x(for now) 4870 (1gb variety)
1x 4850x2
1x 4870x2

all i have as far as money goes is my 9800gtx and the xspc water block for it ( i have stuff i need to pay off) so i think the last two shouldn't even be considered. i'm looking at a card that will give me either the same performance or maybe a little bit better.


edit:

i already ordered a phenom2 x3 720 so that i could get rid of some of my cpu bottleneck, now i want to see about upgrading my gpu!

thats an understatement. op your cpu is not even good enough to fully push the 9800gtx you have. 4850 or 4870 crossfire would be a massive waste of money.
 
lol i forgot to mention, i ordered a phenom2 x3 720.

i don't think i will have a really big cpu bottleneck.
 
Doesn't your purchase depend on how much cash you get for your 9800GTX and block?
Anyway, once you sell those, just buy the best card you can get with that money.

I wouldn't go for anything less than the 4850 obviously, you will lose performance otherwise.

that's why i didn't bother adding anything less to my list of things that i would consider :p

if i sell my card and block, i won't have anything to use until i buy a new card. and i am a few posts away from being able to post it up on here.... so....
 
OCing the X3 to 3.4 or greater should give plenty of support for HD 4870 Crossfire, or an X2.

If you want max push @ 1920x or higher try an HD 4870 X2 with an HD 4870 1Gb in Crossfire. Crossfire with another X2 doesn't have the scaling right now in most cases.
