Hello all,

I was wanting your advice on what I should do about my situation. I currently have a ti4200 @ 4600 speeds and 512 mb of pc2700(look in sig for complete stats). Anyways, I'v been noticing some slow downs in certain games like Painkiller, UT2K4 and Farcry. I do not run the settings very high, 1024 res with medium quaility. In UK4 I run 1024 res w/everything except characters on very low. I still experince slow downs when running into a few people on my screen at once and in general running around.

Well, my question is if this has to do w/my video card or more my memory. I hear people say you need more memory to play current games smoothly. I also know the ti4200 is pretty outdated and I AM going to upgrade to a 9800 pro within the next few weeks...just wanted to know if I should get more RAM too

thanks!

Memory, no doubt. UT usually uses about 640 megs of ram on my system, Far Cry sometimes as much as 900. You don't want to have to use a paging file, soo... Memory :)

So if I got some memory in waiting for the 9800 pro would things be more smoother with 512mb more ram and my ti4200?

thanx again

Well,,,im in the same boat as you more or less (well..a little less cause of my 9200 SE,hehe)but i have had as much as 1.5GB of ram in my system,it really isnt a huge issue.I think that 512 is ok if you have a fast directX 9 card, allthough more ram is always a +,hehehe.......
It really depends,i have had a fairly small ram footprint with ut2k4 and far cry,no more than 315 mb respectively. It would be nice to run thoes games in a ramdisk,,WoW,that would be fast....
