I still have an APC UPS that I got in around 2002-2003, and its battery can no longer handle my current PC (AMD X2 4800+ [s939], 4 GB RAM, 500 GB + 1.5 TB HDD, GeForce GTS 250 w/ 1 GB RAM, 2 x 24 in. Dell 2408 widescreen monitors, Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker set).

I'm trying to find a good UPS unit. What would you recommend? I'm considering either APC or CyberPower UPSes, but I'm open to any brand, but they have to be good brands (AKA brands what I would least likely to have trouble with).

I would like to try to keep the price below $150-200.

If I'm posting this in the wrong section, feel free to move it.

Perhaps you could consider buying a replacement battery for your current UPS?

By now the OP should have replaced the battery 2 times or just about to replace the second time..

As for the original question. I recommend APC 1500 VA units. CyberPower is also fine. And remember no matter what UPS you get you need to replace the batteries every 3 to 5 years.

I've never replaced the battery on my old UPS.

What specs would I have to go with for the current PC I have?

I forgot to mention that the PSU I have is a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 (610 watts) PSU.

You should consider that. It's a pretty easy process and much less than the cost of a new unit.

I recommend 800VA or greater on any PC. Anything smaller to me is only good for the rest of your devices (cable modem, printer, monitor, usb devices ...)

Here are some recommendations:

I originally was going to put this unit:

however the $136 CyberPower CP1350AVRLCD 1350 VA is a much better unit for $17 more.

I'm going to have to check which model of the APC UPS I got. I do know that I've bought it in 2003.

At work I still have a few APC BackupUPS 1500 models that I purchased in the late 1990s.
