New TV Recommendations

My parents are looking to purchase a new TV with a budget of $500. I don't know much about what's going on in the TV world and what models are good and which ones should be strayed away from, so I'm turning to you guys for advice.

Requirements:
At least 42"
1080p

With all the deals coming up I'm hoping they can snag a great TV with your help.

46" Panasonic TC-P46C2 720p Plasma HDTV for $499.99 at BestBuy

EDIT: OK, it's not 1080p. I'm leaving it up anyway.

If you can convince your parents to chuck in another $200, go for the 50" 1080p model on sale for $699.

You can go down to 42" for $50, but 50" 1080p is worth it.
