Nice! Everything I've heard about that lens has been good. Interesting cap. Does the front element bulge out so far a normal pinch cap wont' grip?

I'd ditch the column in favour of a flat platform on your tripod though

hope you don't mind me answering your question with another photo, but i'm just super excited :D

already done ;)

i'm hoping to test it out tomorrow between classes. if i get a chance, i'll post some results around this time.

Nice choice and, congrats on the new toys. It is nice having new toys to play with.

Congrats!

Its a bit yellow for my preference, but I can still respect awesome glass when I see it ;)

^^^ not bad at all.

I hope by the end of 2010 to have the 14-24,24-70,70-200 f/2.8s and the 200-400 f/4

Fast glass is an addiction.

^^ 70-200 is a next lens on my list. if all goes well, i'll pick it up later this year, or early '09. but basically, my shopping list and the deadline is just about the same... with an exception of a 200-400.

note: the pics above are straight out of the camera, no post processing of any kind. i couldn't be happier with the results.

Wait, I was just there this past weekend..Chicago was crap last weekend for picture taking.

I picked up a 75-300mm for my XTi and wanted to go around and shoot with it, but it was cold and rainy...meh.

Nice shots btw.

I've also just got the 70-200 f4L

So I've got the 18-55mm IS (not the kit lens), 75-300mm (non-IS), and the 70-200 f4L so far. I'm wanting to get a "Bigma," the Sigma 50-500mm f4-6.3 for those long off shots. With the 1.6x of the XTi, that'd make it equivalent to about 800mm..=)

Plus I've seen some sick pics taken with it!

That's a monster lens. :) Congrats!

The 70-200VR or 200VR are the next on my list but I'm going to wait a little.

Would you mind posting more photos taken with your new lens?

thanks.

i'm a little swamped with the school work right now (finals are right around the corner), but as soon as i get some spare time (i'm thinking, this weekend?) i should be able to take some new shots. i'll post the results when it happens.

cheers

That's a monster lens.

northrop,

We should meet up next time I'm in Great Lakes at the base up there so you can show me where some good spots are to snap pics! I don't know downtown at all!
