Nope not usb3 to usb2. usb3 to usb3 of the laptoip. And yes, it's a usb2 hub.

That hurts, especially after I remembered my last bad experience with Amazon last week.

Is the dock inoperable? I ask because I use the Vantec NexStar dock and it leaves the 2.5" slot open. Dust concerns notwithstanding, it works just fine for me.
