Wow... nice.

My wife is going to turn six shades of green (with envy) when she sees that!!

Not trying to be nosy... but where did you get it? We're looking for good deals on good glass, any referrals would be appreciated....and have fun with your new toy!

Yeah...ok...I'm the wife...
I can only dream of L glass......

But hey!! If you decide you don't like it...I'd be happy to take it off your hands for 1/4 of the price!!!!! :D

Enjoy your new toy!!!!!

Well congrats on the new glass. It is alwasy a special feeling to have brand new stuff to play with.

Wow. This lens is pretty heavy. I hope you've been working out. :D Show us some sweet pics later. What will you use this for?

B&H. I got this for $1500 (US Model) with B&H May discount codes and Canon's Instant Rebates. Could not pass it up for the price.

I do not think it is that heavy. But then again, I was in the Marine Corps(infantry battalion) so I hope I can handle it. Plus I just got back from China, I saw this skinny Chinese guy (maybe 145-150lbs) carrying that lens on a Mark II while hiking up the Great Wall...... Man that is hard core.

What will you use this for?

Taking pictures of far stuff that my 24-105 cannot reach. I am going to be getting a 1.4x extender for it soon. Just have to start buying tickets for my hawaii trip....

When you carry this much weight + other stuff on you, you'll eventually feel it at the thend of the day hehe. Your description of the china guy sounds pretty much like me :p. It's possible to carry such rigs with conditioning.

I recommend not getting the Canon extender. I got both it and the Sigma @ B&H to test it's speed and the Sigma was faster. Maybe I'll try the Kenko or Tamron but it's a bit annoying to test all of these.

How about sharpness. I saw some samples and the Canon 1.4 @ f/5.6 was a lot sharper. Also all the reviews seem to point that way too.....What lens did you use to compare the extenders? Just curious because I am going to be looking soon...

In my tests, the Sigma was sharper.

For sharpness tests, I was using 70-200 f2.8 and f4 IS on 1D and XTi. I did focus speed tests on those as well as on 70-200 2.8 IS on 5D. Oddly I didn't like the Canon extender. You know sometimes you get duds and this could've been one of them. My first 24-105 was not very good.
