I am going to be getting some parts from a friend and was considering throwing them in to a Shuttle or other SFF type box. I will be getting a 2.8 P4 (socket 478), 80GB HDD, DVD-ROM, and 2x 512 PC2100 RAM. I am thinking about using it for a backup/travel gaming rig. I was wondering what the best Shuttle system I could get to make good use of the parts. I am going to stay AGP on this setup as I have an x800 that I will be putting in there. I have been looking at the SB61G2

That is a good choice. As that model supports DDR400 in dual channel, so if you felt the need to boost it up a bit down the line....the support is there. As is SATA (but no raid), so you could load it up with hdds and turn it into an HTPC too.

You might wanna change that RAM from pc2100 to pc3200 because you'd be underclocking the 2.8 with that ram. The sb61g2 is a good choice for what you need.

edit: you also might want to look into getting a dvd-burner maybe (?) only if you need it. sometimes its good to have a burner on a puter with only one cd drive

The memory that I am getting is what came in the Dell these parts are coming from. But I may get some PC3200 and see if I can OC it a little. The parts I am getting are as follows.

P4 2.8 (21 x 533)
Dell Mobo (Not sure spec)
52 CD/RW
80GB IDE 7200 RPM (not sure of MFG)
Floppy Drive
300W PSU (I know the shuttle has a proprietary one)

I am thinking of puttin in an x800 in there and using it as LAN or Backup rig
