New to SFF (Shuttle etc.)

Are there any resources (reviews, review sites, others forums, threads here at the [H], etc.) where I can learn about SFF factor PCs. I have already read the SSF-related topics on the first 5 pages or so, but if there was a huge thread earlier that anyone has bookmarked (can’t search) that would be helpful. Currently I have a full fledged rig but I'm willing to combine my optical drives and get rid of the TV tuner in order to reap the benefits of the SFF factor case. Unfortunately there is not a sticked FAQ on this subject as it’s still relatively new.

I'm currently interested in this Shuttle system at newegg, but I would like to get some more information (such as reviews of Shuttle compared to other brands) before I take the plunge.
 
I found out the hard way this week after getting my new Shuttle that you have to go all out on your RAM. I got one with the nforce mobo's and it turns out they are really picky about the RAM you use if you're using the IGP.

So yesterday, after a week of random rebooting, I ordered some Corsair XMS, because it seems like it's the only stuff that works properly.

I hope that isn't the case as I planned on bringing my CPU and Memory (2 Samsung DDR2100 sticks) with me. Which model SSF case did you have and how did you know you needed Corsair, did Shuttle or NVidia tell you this?
 
Samsung ram is a bit sketchy sometimes...Might not work too well with the Shuttle...
 
Bah, its only a few sticks that have problems... Atleast with the AMD shuttles anyway...dont care much for intel heh. Check http://sfftech.com register on the forums and post your query about which model and cpu, ram, drives etc you plan on gettin. THe peeps there are ULTRA uber friendly.

I have the SAME shuttle you have (except mine isnt the black version, mine is the bonz version ^^) and it runs fine with crappy geil 3200, there arent many mem incompatabilities with that shuttle. Do what I said above anyway, just to make sure.
 
Geil is surprisingly compatible for generic ram. I'd suggest it if you won't pony up for the good stuff.

For that shuttle, Id say either XMS3200 or Mushkin lvl2. Thats what works best with my SN41G2.
 
I have that shuttle case, it is a real good SFF. If you want reviews just look up SN41G2 on Google. There is no difference between SN41G2 and SN41G2B except that SN41G2B is black.

The CPU runs at 266Mhz, so why would I get DDR3200 Ram. Isn't that overkill? DDR2100 runs at 266mhz and I thought that the ram and the cpu should be in-sync for the best performance.
 
Sorry, I missed the processor. I just assumed it would be a Barton.

And these things have good overclocking potential, so I always recommend that memory. And I still do. Its a little more future proof, but definately overkill.

But hey, this is the [H]. We're all about overkill here...
