Hi,
I would like to buy another MAXTOR 120 gig SATA drive and set up RAID 0 (I have another drive with everything backed up).

The question is If I Install the new drive will I lose everything on my C: drive or Is It just plug and play (obviously I'd have to set up the RAID 0),oh..and I have the RAID drivers installed.

p.s I've searched the forums (very Informative) but I havn't been to clear on what to do.

I found this link but I'm not sure If It applies to MAXTOR drives..if so how do I set the jumper?

With the onboard raid controller, I am almost positive that you will have to create the array and then format the array, so you will lose all of your data.

Before you decide to go with raid0 make sure that you are aware of all of the disadvantages as well as the advantages of the setup.

if your c: volume resides on the harddisk that will be raided in the near term: yes, you will "lose" that data. Lose is in quotation marks, since you knowing this will prevent you from actually losing data. you will have to reinstall for sure.

If its nVIDIA RAID, then you might be able to. But there's still a good chance that you won't be able to. Is it NVRAID?

Edit: NM, I see a P4 setup referenced in the sig now. I don't know about that RAID implementation.

thx for the responses ;)

Iv'e read a few posts on the pro's & con's of RAID,now it's made me think about just getting a single Raptor 150gig 10000rpm hard drive..

what do ya think?

Probably a good way to go. The 740ADFDs are nice, too, if your budget is a little tight.
