New to mac

this didn't fly in the FS forum, but there no rules against it here. I just got a G4 with combo and super drives, dual 867 mhz procs, 512 mb ram, os x, and tons of software.

You guys have any ideas what it is worth?
 
I'm almost positive photoshop is on it, along with office for mac and tons of other stuff.

hmmm...I think i'm back off to the for sale forum..
 
unless you have hard copies of the software, don't expect it to add too much value to the computer.
 
That is ok with me. Someone will get TONS of software, and I don't mind getting 600 or 700 for it. Win win in my book.

Its really not illegal either, just no cd's....I work at a college, and instead of returning these to the apple store they give IT staff an option to buy them.

It is illegal if you don't own the software licenses. I'm sure they use the same licenses on the new machines they get, or atleast use them for the upgrade software. Adobe, and Microsoft are sticklers on this.
 
Software licences are transferable, for the most part. You're very much allowed to sell your copy of Photoshop, with or without a CD, for any price you want to charge.
 
...unless the original owner keeps the hard copy of the software and installs it on their machine

Which is what will happen here. Noone is going to give away licenses for software like the adobe, quark, macromedia, and mirosoft products. They just cost too much. I say do the honest thing by whiping it clean, and installing the original OS on it.
 
That is the best alternative, I'd say, regardless of the 'pro' software already installed. It can prevent a whole lot of issues to just wipe it clean.
