Hi there. Long time listener, first time caller. I've built my first PC for HT duty and I need the to know how to put this baby to work. I have XP MCE/SP3/MP11 installed on a revamped emachines (I know, I know) T-series with 250GB boot drive, 500GB media SATA and 1000GB outboard USB. Mobo is Foxconn A7GM-S w/ 2GB DDR2/4300 and HDMI out and Athlon 64 3500+ overclocked to 2.6 GHz with buss at 233 Mhz. WinTV htr-1250. Everything works great with my 50 inch Panasonic Plasma and Yamaha 5.1 surround.

I want to know how to use this thing like a Tivo. I've configured Media Center w/ the Hauppauge 1250 and entered my zip for the TV guide. I've registered w/ TitanTV.com and I can schedule and record locally from this PC but how do I use remote scheduler? Can I do this from work?

I haven't gone much further. I have a HUGE collection of movies and videos (2+TB) located on USB outboards and other networked computers.

What hints and tricks can you guys offer - I have a lot of catching up to do. This is my first homebrew PC and I want to push it to it's full capability. What freeware can I use to enhance this experience? How can I make this machine appear to be something other than a Windows machine?

I just figured out that the Hauppauge HVR-1250 is junk. I've got to RMA this sucker. The picture on Comcast cable is poor and it's not nearly as flexible as I thought. I can't make any adjustments relevant to my picture problems with the included software. Can anyone suggest a TV tuner card that integrates perfectly with MCE? Something with crystal clear picture and well written software?

This Hauppauge stuff is making my head hurt - going to shut down for the night.

Cheers!
