So I set up the graphical client (at least I think so) but it keeps telling me it will take 84 days to complete 1 WU, is it normal to take this long?

My guess... with your specs... and the graphical client... about 3 days.

I use the graphical client on most of my machines. It works fine for me.

I am on a P-M 1.73 and it takes on average 1.25-2 days a WU. I am also using the console version so as not to use extra cycles for creating the graphics.

My own advice is to ditch the graphical client and get the console version. This one has fewer issues and should be faster to complete a WU without spending cycles drawing the pretty 3d animation.

The graphical client does not draw any graphics if you turn off that feature.

I don't have any problems with my machines running the graphical client. Really. None at all. If I did have problems, I would switch them over. But no point in it for me.

Someone a good while back did a comparison, and I believe the ppd difference is pretty small--somewhere on the order of a few percent. So going console vs. graphical client doesn't make much of a difference performance-wise.

A few percent is a huge difference over the course of a day, week, month, or year, etc.

Exactly, and the console client is a set-and-forget setup if you run it as a service.

I didn't know that we can turn off the graphics and this show that I've never ever ran this version

I left it running during the day and when I came back it had 2d 14 remaining.

No problem, I too went through that alone time ago! It said 83 days I was looking at everything thinking something is WRONG HERE!

Make sure you are folding the box under my username though
