new to dsl questions

i think i'm going to be getting the $14.99 sbc dsl. the thing is they don't provide installation. they only give a self-installation kit. i currently have one phone line at my house. do i need ask phone comapny to install second phone line for dsl? and how hard is this self installation? also what kind of modem do i need to connect to the dsl line? i'm new to dsl. any help appreciated.

Generally, there's no problem with getting DSL on your only phone line.

You'll probably need an ADSL modem.
 
Most ADSL providers, give you a DSL modem and filters with the self-install kit. Its very easy to do. Install the filters on all phone lines (except the one that plugs into the DSL modem) and then plugin the DSL modem. Plug your PC or switch into the DSL modem and your done. You will get documentation with your install kit, just read that and you will be fine
 
Self install kit should come with everything you need to get hooked up :)
