I am ready to install my first ATI card an x1800xt and I am in need of some help. With Nvidia, I would instal the forceware drivers and Rivatuner for OCing...

When I go to ATI's site, they list three downloads:
Microsoft .NET Framework
Catalyst Control Center Package
AVIVO Video Converter Engine

Do I need all of these? What is the best program for overclocking?
Any tips for a new ATI man are appreciated

Went from 1.1 to 2.0 and have had no problems and slight speed increase loading CCC (maybe a placebo effect but it certainly feels quicker)

Is CCC mandatory? I cannot get mine to work. Are there alternatives to enable AF?

I would use ati tray tools over CCC. CCC runs in the background and takes time to load traytools is just much better all around imo

.Net 2.0 does improve CCC performance. .Net 2.0 is also required to run certain applications so its a good idea to just install it.

Just google "ati tray tools"

Downloaded and now I can enable 4XAF, but I can do it for both openGL an direct3d. Which is the one I need to enable? I have X800XL
