I could use a little help, and I'll try to make this concise:
- built new rig with following components:
Gigabyte X58A-UD5 (rev 2)
6GB Corsair Dominator (CMP6GX3M3A1600C8)
Corsair HX850
i7 950
WD VelociRaptor 300GB (no OS yet)
Antec Kuhler 920 (plugged into mobo CPU fan)
GTX 580 (from other system, works fine)
- system just starts and runs but get nothing but a black screen
- no power to USB keyboard or mouse
- no idea what BIOS version because no video
- code C1 on mobo, which is for RAM, either incompatible etc. but using compatible RAM and have tested every stick in two different slots (testing with single sticks in both DIMM 3_1 and 3_3)
Every stick of the Dominator cant be bad, so I'm thinking this board is being picky.
If it were one of the DIMMs, I'd know because I tested all sticks twice in two different slots.
However, assuming I'm not getting any video because something is up with the RAM so it's not posting?
Have no other RAM to test with right now, and not sure what to get. Want to stick with Corsair Dominator, as well as stick with running 1600, but running out of options. Another model is out of stock at EGG, and while the XMS3 is great, from past experience, but people seem to be getting a lot of bad sticks recently it seems.
Still no power to keyboard, even when unplugging mouse.
Tested with another GPU (GTX 280) still no video, still same mobo error code, though I don't always trust the codes.
Need to push everything I can before return policy is up, because don't want to deal with manufacturers, would rather return to vendor if need be.
Help? Advice?
Thanks!
P.S.
Should I even bother popping out the battery for an hour then rebooting if getting the same mobo error code?
I know that sometimes a corrupt BIOS can cause mobo to not recognize RAM, and popping out the battery can reset everything and cause it to be recognized for some people... but I don't know what's up.
If it is the RAM, any suggestions on something equal and as quality as the Dominator?
I've only used Corsair for years, never a problem, and have two other systems running it right now.
