I need to set up a workstation to serve apps and store files on for a company i just started. Basicaly there will be a main PC( the 1 in question here) and then 2 laptops that I need to connect to it from out in the fiels via VPN.

So here is my parts list I have put togeather so far. I guess I would like some input. Like do I need to go with raptor HDD's or should I just use 16mb buffer 7200 rpm HDD's? suff like that. if there is costs I can cut that would be great. If there are things I need to add I would like to know so I get it right the first time.

Thanks.

I think you'll want to change the OS to Windows Server if you want to serve applications.

Personally, I'd splurge on a Dell PowerEdge if I were you.

You think I need to go with a server? I would still like to use the desktop if I can. But I guess I do not have to. I was thinking along the lines of building a good work station and putting my quickbooks on it so both users can get into it from anywhere. I a server is going to serve me best I would like to know that.

If you plan on having users log into one system simultaneously to use apps/resources, its best to go with server.

That is what I thought, someone I know told me that a workstation would work for me also. Seing that There will be only 2 users and it would save me money.

I don't think they can login simultaneously, but there may be a workaround for that. Look into it if you want.
