New System help, PLEASE!!

ok, here we go. I just did a major upgrade on my system. I replaced the motherboard with the asus A8N-E. The video card is a evga 7800gt. The cpu is an AMD 64 3700+ san diego. I've got everything installed in my case, and when I attempt to boot up, I get nothing but a black screen. I've still got my old HDD's with the previous installation of windows on it. Please help me. Thanks.
 
Any beep codes? memory,video,hs/fan,etc. all seated installed correctly. Just black screen no post screen?
 
Are you sure that you connected the external power connectors to your video card?

Yep that might just be the culprit good call TopGun, I forgot about that.... :D
 
ok, I've pulled everything except the cpu. I hear nothing. I should be able to hear something, right?
 
Heres some more info. Its a pci express board and vid card. I'm also using a 400W power supply with a 20 to 24 pin adapter. Everything seems to be running fine, just no post. I've got everything out of the board except the cpu. Could I have a bad board? I would think the board over the cpu because I'm not hearing any audible errors.
 
I just got a Neo2 mobo with an X2 processor and the EXACT same thing is happening to me. When i hit the power switch the hard drives spin up, as do the fans, and the lights on the cd drive turn on, but i just get a black screen. I have the video card's power connector hooked up (9700PRO), so i have no idea what the problem is. HELP!

btw, I have a 460watt ENERMAX PSU with 33A on the +12V rail, so i really don't think that's my problem
 
I had a similar problem with a Neo2 Platinum. I had to clear CMOS by moving the jumper to the reset position, and then back. Somehow, that fixed everything.
 
FIXED MY PROBLEM!!!! There is a small 4 pin power connector that I had only previously used on Intel boards. THIS MUST BE PLUGGED IN OR THE BOARD WILL NOT POST. I plugged it in, and everything is great. Thanks for all you help.
 
That worked! (the CMOS thing) You're a lifesaver. :D I can't thank you enough :)

Kinda strange though, it sounds like a lot of them have this problem
