Just put together a new system:

A64 3700+ San Diego
DFI LanParty UT
ATI x800LE
WD Raptor 74GB

Installed a legal copy of XP Home (32-bit) and while it boots extremely quickly, it is ridiculously slow after the boot. We're talking 5-10 seconds for a right click to register. I'm currently trying to install motherboard chipset drivers (which is taking ages since it's sometimes half a minute for an action to actually transpire); any ideas what could be the problem? I literally just built this and so have basically nothing installed yet. Is it common for A64 systems to do this prior to driver installation?

Wow, computers never cease to amaze me. Somehow my BIOS had "USB Keyboard" and "USB Mouse" both set to disabled, yet both still worked properly (USB Support was not enabled via OS as far as I could tell) and for some reason putting both of these to enabled solved my problem.

Glad to hear you're up and running now. That system must scream. Have you considered folding with it?

Yeah. Make sure you flash with the 3/10 BIOS, among other things it fixes some stupid screwy USB shit.
