well, xmas and my birthday are just around the corner, and i am planning on using the cash for building a new system. It will be used primarily for gaming, some light pohotshop work, but primarily gaming. I have no intentions of going sli, and i am trying to stay single core (price, and no real need for dual core). i am trying to stay between 1000 and 1100 dollars, i already have the display and speakers, and i will purchase the mouse and keyboard locally. I also do not plan on overclocking, and i know that i could probably get a gig of value ram for cheaper, but i do not have a problem spending extra cash on the quality ram

One area where you can save money is on the RAM, I know you want high quality stable RAM, but to get that you don't need Corsair XMS especially since you're not overclocking. I would go with Corsair Value Select, it costs much less and I'm pretty sure you can find it with the same timings and clock rates of the XMS you're looking at.

Also, I would go with a PC Power and Cooling, Antec, or Enermax powersupply. I've not heard of FSPgroup, if you've heard good reviews, ignore me. My personal preference is to have a very reliable powersupply, having a crappy one can cause many strange errors, from software crashing, to your computer not booting. The power supply directly effects the performance of every component in your computer, having a good one makes everything else perform that much better.

Other than that I think your choices are good for your needs.
 
after doin some more research and reading, it seems this fortron is getting average to below average reviews, so i swapped it out for the ENERMAX Whisper II 535w model, which seems to be reccomended quite often.

If they're Newegg reviews, take them with a grain of salt. The FSP should be an excellent unit, and the company is known as one of the few that actually underrates their units. Enermax makes a good unit too, so it's your choice. Other than this and the previous point on RAM, everything looks good.
 
i figure extra wattage + sli certification > sleeved cables ( which ill do anyway)

Both will be perfectly servicible. It's really your choice.
 
I have the fortron blue storm you mentioned, and its been all good for me. Most of the people who blow them seem to try to do SLI with it, even though it is not rated for SLI. If you get the FSP/Fortron blue storm, get it at ewiz for about $20 cheaper.

I've also heard good things about The OCZ modstreams. The link is for the 520w which is $94 AR, but there is also a 450w model for less.
