Hi I just did some research, as I will be upgrading my rig in a week, and here is the list of components that I will be getting. I thought I would share it here with you guys to see what you think. :D

Proc: Amd Athlon 64 3200+ socket 939 90nm
Mem: Patriot Dual Channel Kit 1GB(512x2) PC-3200
Fan/HeatSink: Zalman CNPS 7000B-Cu Copper CPU Cooler
MotherBoard: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum NForce3 Ultra Mobo
PowerSupply: ThermalTake Silent PurePower "W0023" 560W
HardDrives: TWO WesternDigital Raptor 74GB 10,000Rpm SATA WD740GD w/ 4.5ms AccessTime
Case: Chenming Black Server Case Steel ( I find Aluminum to be too flimsy as I have one now)

Anyhow, Please let me know if I made a good configuration, I am open to suggestions.
Thank you all. :)

Oh, forgot to mention, I already have a video card I will be putting in to the system which is why I didn't go for one of those ne nForce 4 mobos.
I will be using a Geforce 6800GT AGP with this rig. I also have an NEC 8x DualLayer DVD+-R Optical Drive I will be putting into the new case.

i'm not a big fan on thermaltake's psu's. i'd recommend either an antec or ocz. i have the ocz powerstream 420 right now, and it works flawlessly with my system. if you feel you want better rails, take a look at the 520 watt model, though i think it's overkill for most systems
and for the case.. make sure it has good airflow.. the 6800gt puts out a lot of heat at full load

Yeah I wasn't too sure about the Power Supply either. I had bad experiences with ThermalTake components before. I just like the clean design on this PowerSupply with the sleeved cables and all. Another choice would have been the Fortron Blue Storm 500 Watt but I will take a look at the one you suggested also.

that fortron doesn't look bad. i dunno what to say about the split 12v rail. i never cold decide if it's really a good thing or not. but if you feel like saving a few $ over the ocz psu's, then go for the fortron over the thermaltake

I want to get all my parts form newegg, and for OCZ they only have the 600Watt in stock and that is out of my price range. So I think I will get the Fortron. Thanks for the advice on not getting the ThermalTake.

OH Man, I just checked Zalman website and it turns out that the heatsink is too big for the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. I looked at some other offerings they had and none fits. Can anyone recommend a good cooler that will fit to this mobo?

the 7700 might be too big, but the 7000 fits.
and the 420 watt ocz isn't too much less powerful than the 620 watt thermaltake. check the amperage each rail puts out instead of the total wattage. ocz rates conservatively, if they rated like most other companies, the 420 would really be a 520 watt (peak power instead of contant)

As quoted by ma3a..

Use a Thermalright XP90 with a 92mm 50cfm Panaflo fan. Awesome cooler. I'd say use the XP120 but it's not compatible with that board. Taken directly from Thermalright's site for MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum..."Not Compatible (caps mechanically obstruct pipe.)" The XP90 on the other hand is a fantastic cooler that does fit.

actually i checked zalman's site. i dunno where you got that the 7000 won't fit, cause both the 7000 and the 7700 fit on the neo2. plus i have the neo (754).. they layout is exactly the same, sans one memory slot, and i have plenty of room for the 7000

/me don's deep winamp announcer voice / style:

PATRIOT ram, it really whips the Counter-Strike Terrorists' ass!!

I just read it too and it says that the 7000b will fit as long as you're not using the ZM80 with it. The ZM80 is a VGA card cooler. So if you're not using it, the 7000 should fit just fine.

Thank you guys. I was scared there for a second as I really like Zalman. :p

heh, you should look into the version of the 7000b-alcu that has blue led's in the fan. i bet it looks quite cool with all that blue, red and silver :D

yeah, i actually just found it today too. i'd like to see it in the dark though, but i don't see any pics... :(
a heatsink downgrade might be in order for me.. then every fan but one in my case will have a light! :D :D :D

That heatsink is really nice. The neon lights just make it even better.

I'm still VERY pleased with my Thermaltake Tower112 heatsink. Aside from it's weight. It cools amazingly.

And as far as the Thermaltake PSU's go. I have 2 of the Thermaltake Silent PurePower 480W Xaser II units and have never had a problem with them. As well as I have a few friends that use the same versions and love them. It gets great ratings from buyers at Newegg. So don't take them off of the list just yet. It's a great PSU and it doesn't unload your wallet.
