Ok, the system in my sig I just built last night. Some of you that may have similiar setups please tell me some settings in the bios or in windows that I can change to make my computer perform better.

I also would like some advice for setting up my 9800 Pro properly as far as bios settings and however else it can be setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

20 gig:p ..... your going to run out of space, especially if your goign to game, wit that 9800 pro, (already have 15 gig just with games:rolleyes: )

by the way how is that other computer that you were having troubles with working now?

Hey thanks for asking!

I Killed it! Actually I had it up and running fine, but I sacrificed the hard drives and floppy disk drive as well as the cd rom drive so I could go ahead and build my new rig.

Yes Yes, a 20 gig drive is all I have for now, I wont fill it up right away since I dont load large programs or games on my pc. I have had this drive a couple years now and I think the most data i have had on it was like 9 gig's.

Anywho, I looked though the tweak guide and didnt see anything specific on adjusting the Bios for the NF7-S nor did I see anything on the ATI 9800 Pro. Due to the search function being down, can someone please clue me in.

Currently I have the FSB set to 200mhz and the multiplier at 11. The memory is running at 400mhz. What should I set the AGP frequency to? The options are 66 - 99.

There is a memory timings feature in the Bios and I currently have it set to "Optimal". Other options include Aggressive and Expert, not exactly sure which would be the best.

I have heard about people running things like 3D Mark or whatever to test the rates of their video cards but I know nothing about that. Is that something I would need to do so I would know how my ATI 9800 Pro is running?

Thanks for the help, sorry to be such a n00b

hey not a problem man, be glad to help you out with this, if you want to get an over clocker for you vid card i suggest AtiTool, best out there, as for the timings, leave those at 66-33-?? cuz once you start messing with those, you can damage you chips and stuff if you don't have proper cooling, as for the multiplier leave that at 11 and bump the 200 to about oh lets say 215-220? are you using stock cooling or did you purchase a HSF?... give me a PM if you have some other questions, i'd be happy to walk you through this, or if you have AIM you can IM me on that

As for the HSF I have the ThermalTake Silent Boost, here is a link http://www.systemcooling.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1321

I am not sure I want to start pushing the CPU real hard yet so I think I would rather just leave the FSB at 200 for now. Perhaps in a couple weeks after I know the system will run stable I will play with it a little more.

What about BIOS revision updates, etc. How do I know what version I got and where to get the newest ones to make sure I am current?

Wow you are fresh out of the box new eh.

Congrats on getting it all in your box and running.

But about the bios revisions and whatnot you need to go to the web page of your Mobo maker. IE MSI's web page or Asus or what have you.

Also make sure your drivers are current for the vidcard and other assorted devices.

Only fresh out the box on building new pc's.

I have already updated to the latest and greast drivers all the way around. I have also flashed my bios to the newest version as well.

Ok, got work to do, will follow-up later...

Feel free to leave gobs of information for me while I am gone :p
