New System Behaving Oddly

Last week I upgraded to the following system:

Intel DX58SO
Intel i7 920 (Yes, the Retail Edge Bundle)
6Gb (3x2GB) Corsair 1600
320GB hard drive
1T hard drive
ATI Radeon HD4850
DVDRW

I also switched from a PCI Hauppauge 1600 to a PCI-E 1800 tuner.

When I first booted, it started Windows 7 (Yes, I should have done a clean build), but froze after installing some drivers. When it restarted, the power went on for about 8-10 seconds, shut off and restarted. It then would not boot. The power is on (lights and fans are working) but no POST. Any attempt to restart would result in the 8-10 second power-on, shut down and refusal to POST. The board has no internal speaker jumper that I can find, so it quietly mocks me.

I tried a myriad of things, including another power supply. After discovering that the second was would not power at all, I put the original back...at which time the PC booted into Windows.

It worked fine until I attempted to install the drivers for the tuner, at which time the machine froze, and I had use the power switch in the back to shut it down. It then powered on for about 8-10 seconds, shut down, restarted, and would not POST.

I tried taking out each individual memory stick, and re-arranging them. The machine powered on and worked fine...until I tried installing the tuner drivers again. Lather, rinse, repeat...

I then took out the tuner and tried to restart. 8-10 seconds..., etc.

Three times now since the machine rebooted (probably 20% of the time) Windows 7 repaired itself (rolling back to a pre-tuner installation), after which it works fine unless I actually want to watch TV.

So as of now, I refuse to shut the machine off out of fear it will not POST again.

Could the problem be an inadequate power supply? I currently (no pun intended) have an Antec 500 Earthwatts. I'm planning on getting a Corsair 620 just to be safe. It can't be the Windows installation as that would not cause it to not POST. Taking the tuner out didn't help, so I don't think that is the problem.

For some reason I keep thinking it's having trouble powering everything, although that would not explain why it does on occasion boot just fine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
 
That intel board has an on-board case speaker/buzzer. ;)

Do you have the latest BIOS? Are there any IRQ conflicts with the Tuner?
 
Seems pretty clear to me that you have a problem w/ the TV tuner card. I would RMA it or at least remove it from your system.

Definitely check to make sure you have all the newest drivers for your mobo and newest BIOS.
 
I appreciate the ideas, but even if I remove the tuner, it still will not POST...

I did, however, find a way to get the computer to boot: I remove ONE stick of memory (Yes, a different one each time). When I start it up, it will boot into Windows, then freeze. Power off, memory re-inserted, and It will start and Windows will repair itself. I then works for a while (going on 8 hours this time).

I might consider that I have a bad stick of memory if the system booted with the same two sticks, but I can rotate them out, and the machine WILL work with all three installed.
