got a problem wit new setup, i installed old 40 gb hdd into my new rig, bios detects it, win xp detects it but it wont allocate it a drive letter, when i go to disk manager only option i have is to delete partition, i cant do anything else. will i need to convert it ntfs to be able to use it? both new hdd are ntfs and the old hd is fat32.
2 new hd's are sata, old drive ive setup on ide taking cable from cd/dvd drive, just to keep things simple. i think old 40gb hd is setup as slave. will this make a diff? it comes up on bios as primary slave.
any ideas why i can access the data on it?
format or delete partition are not options, old hd has data i want
