I've been running stable for a month or so and last night I had 3 hard locks in a row. 2 while playing ET:QW, and one while running orthos(ran for an hour before box locked), I was also using IM and surfing the web/watching youtube at the time. Prior to my last round of tuning a month ago, I was stable at 3.0ghz for like 4 months.
Temps didn't look out of the ordinary during the orthos run (I wasn't monitoring during the ETQW sessions). I've been gaming on it a lot, for 6 hours at a time in some circumstances, with NO stability issues what so ever. Also, was orthos stable for 8+ hours last time I was tuning things, and I haven't made any changes since.
Soooo, with that in mind, I was debating on where to start to find the lockup cause. My first thoughts were memtest, since in the past when I had memory misbehaving this is the type of lockups I experienced. After that I thought maybe dropping the video to stock speeds. If it still continues, I guess ratcheting down the CPU from 3.2...
The whole thing is pretty damn odd, since as I said, it's been rock stable for a month. Anyone wanna throw their ideas into the hat as to what could have happened and where you'd look first?
Rig:
Asus p5n32-e sli, fan on NB and both power heatsinks, heatsinks added to southbridge
e6420 @ 3.2ghz (voltage upped, can't recall off hand what it's at, 1.47 maybe)
Geil 2x1GB pc2-6400 4-4-4-12 @ 850mhz, 2.2v
Corsair 620hx PSU
XFX 8800 GTS - 320MB - 620mhz/900mhz
Water cooled on a Koolance Exos (full load cpu tops out at like 45c)
2 Silverstone FM121-B fans, 1 intake, 1 exhaust
Soundblaster X-FI (forget the model)
Lian-Li case (forget the model)
