I will be installing a new SSD as my OS and programs drive in my desktop computer. I will be

putting a new install of Win7-64 on the Crucial C300 - 256GB SSD. Here is a short list of notes I

have made and wanted to be sure I haven't missed anything.

Change Bios to AHCI
Install Win7-64 with SP1
I have chosen to not create any partitions
Install Intel iata drivers after Win installed
Disable File indexing
Disable sleep & hibernate
Disable defrag on SSD drive
Disable prefetch, superfetch, & Ready Boost
Make sure SSD is aligned properly

Is there anything else I need to know about?

Set the Power management mode to high performance. I was able to leave sleep enabled on my system (not a C300 though), but it took me a while to find how to do this without inducing a BSOD. No need to check alignment when using Windows 7.

On my intels i always install Chipset and Intel Rapid Storage after, now with C300 there are some that prefer to skip the Rapid storage and just use Windows default, your call.

I personally follow The SSD Optimization Guide, and has gotten good results, specially freeing space, although for you might not be an issue with 256gb.

You don't need to disable defrag or superfetch, as they will be disabled automatically for the SSD. If you partition with the Win 7 install disk, the alignment will be fine as well. No need to disable sleep, just hibernation.
