new speakers/sub woofer question

i just got some cyber acoustic speakers, never heard of them but they were $15 so i thought it worth a shot. they are 2.1 with a sub woofer, but heres my question/problem, the woofer plugs into the right had speaker, and takes power and sound from there. from what i knwo a sub woofer has a different channel, bcs it doesnt really have "sound" coming out just that thumping (dont know technical term) is this how its supposed to be? isnt the woofer supposed to have its own power and a different connection on the mobo?

You speakers (like most 2.1 speakers) have their own internal bass managment and as such the sub does not plug into the sound card.

so this is with all 2.1 speakers systems? its weird bcs everything sounds "bassified" even the speech is like that, sounds very distorted and weird
