Worried about your ISP filtering content? The Electronic Frontier Foundation has a new tool that might help.

The San Francisco-based digital rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation hopes the program, released Wednesday, will help uncover "data discrimination" _ efforts by Internet providers to disrupt some uses of their services _ in addition to the cases reported separately by EFF, The Associated Press and other sources.

It's gone beyond P2P apps for me... I can't even send email attachments via Comcast anymore because they all time out.. Yet sending massive garbage-filled emails to simulate the same size but lacking attachements go fine.

So you do the test...see if your ISP is doing it or not...then what? Curl up in a corner with your Tin Foil hat?

For me I have 2 options (well barely 2 options), DSL or Dial Up. I can say I am not going back to Dial Up so I have to stick with my DSL. Even if I did find my ISP was doing this there is nothing I could really do about it anyhow.

IMO, Ignorance is bliss in this situation :p

Um, you should contact them about that issue or you are having some issue with your email provider...You should be able to send email attachments!

Comcast would not block everyone from sending email attachments....

The problem is selling more bandwidth than they can supply.
That is the whole reason they're doing it, and punishing the purchaser for it.
If you can't supply the bandwidth and some customers are affecting other because you over sold, blame yourself. Buy more bandwidth yourself, or stop selling it, or make it clear with a big fat asterisk that that X amount of bandwidth isn't full bandwidth 24x7.

Occasionally they go through, but more often than not it gets ~20% through and pops back with a failure to connect to server. When it does go, it goes at 56k speeds.

Sending the same email through my site provider's servers (EasyCGI.com) goes full steam.
