i'm upgrading from a slot 1 p3 550, to a slocket celeron 1000 and i cant get the damn thing to boot... its an intel 443bx chipset so i should work.... is it just not in all the way or something? or is it doomed...

i turn it on, and all it does is sit there... no post, no beeps, no moniter responce... fans spin, thats it

geforce 2 mx440
384mb pc100
200 watt psu (worked fine before with 2 hds and 1 cd rom... should be able to power a bare celerry)

thats all that plugged in

Wow, that is some old hardware your working with. I had a slocket adapter on a Chaintec mobo years ago. I remember I had to try 3 different adapters before I found one that was compatible with the chaintec board. That could be your problem too.

Play around with the jumpers on the slocket, see if you can get it to boot at anything.

I just gave away an Asus slocket that worked on everything I put it on. The Abit one was good also.

yeah its kinda old...

its an iwill slocket... got it here for 9 bucks.. the old one had some wierd clips that attached to the HS and thats how it stayed down... i'm thinking that zip ties will do the same job, but i'm lead to beleive that its just not in there all the way (even though it feels like it)

if this doesnt work i may just tell him its better to upgrade it to an axp or something

i set all the jumps to auto except the one for dual or single cpu, that one had to be pre selected
