Ugh ok this is a nightmare. I've built my own before but this time I went for Shuttle's new SLI rig. (they built it I was lazy this time and never built a SFF) Had it about a week and a half or so and I'm to the point I may end up sending the sucker back.

Specs:

Shuttle XPC
4400+ x2
2gigs of ram
7800 GT SLI (x 2)
Win XP Pro along with newest drivers (even tried the new ones that came out yesturday)

Here's the problem though while I'm getting sweet frames I'm getting tons of lockups! Every once and a while durring a game but a lot of the time when I quit out of a game it will hardlock and I'll have to reboot. To make matters worse I was already angry at shuttle because the first time I got it they left out one of the 7800gts! (and you can't even order this model shuttle with a single video card)

It may be due to your X2. Look through the AMD processor forums for the recently released X2 patch that microsoft put out. Alternatively, try disabling cool n quiet in the BIOS.

Edit: Did the work for you (realized I had bookmarked it :D) http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=961914

Make sure you read the whole thing first!

what exactly did they say when you called up and said, "you guys forgot a video card in my computer"

Ok after I posted this thread I went and did some troubleshooting (including the hotfix) and..... *drumroll* still busted  . Also I forgot to mention while I am getting awesome fps in CoD2 and FEAR (can run at 1680x1050 high settings aa/af etc..) but crash when exit I am ALSO having funky glitches in everquest and world of warcraft (guessing its the same thing the other folks with 'stuttering' are getting).

Starting to think I should send it back get my money back and put together a single core rig. My old home brew rig (3000+ 1gig of ram 9800 pro video card) ran WoW and EQ without any issues at all (but mobo was 754/agp so upgrade path was limited) its just that FEAR/CoD2 and such was almost unplayable. Ah well soon as I get this all sorted my uncle will get my old rig since it pwns his laptop for running rpg's :D

I would run memtest first to make sure the memory is OK. Then if you are using SATA drives, I'd change the SATA data cables.

I can't swap cables Shuttle built it not me (its NOT a barebones kit I thought I'd be lazy and let them build it this time). As for the video card LOL they really gave me a hassle on the phone over that. Frankly I couldn't believe it myself I mean come on that model is thier 'SLI rig' and you can't order it with a single video card yet they left one out. Between these issues and the first go around with the video card I'm to the point I think i'll probably send it back and build my own its less hassle! LOL. And when I do I may go with a FX series cpu and a single 7800GTX (maybe the new 512meg one) but go for a SLI mobo so I can add a 2nd one later.

Your saying you cant simply unplug and take out the SATA cable and try a different one?

wouldn't he risk voiding a warranty (if they have one) by opening it and tampering with the internals?

You could be right, man if they are that tight on things that sucks... My luck with Shuttle support has been less then good...

If you go with the 512 you won't be able to do sli since it is a dual slot card.
