new Sharp Aquos 32" 1080p

This thing cannot do 1920x1080 past 30Hz to 50 Hz,trying to drive it past 50hz will cause the set to malfucntion.I went down to Future Shop and looked at,as I am planning to grab a new LCD in April for gaming, and figured if the price was under 1500 Cdn,I would grab it.
The manual/AVS Forums, and the sales rep @ the store all say the same thing :(
That sucks!!!

One more reason to push me towards the 37" Westy, which I'll be buying in the next couple of weeks. :D

can you explain what this means? like if i set the resolution in windows to 1920*1980 does that mean i cant set the refresh rate to 60hz? i dont think that seems right

Hmmmm......price is a little cheaper than a Dell 3007WFP.....I need to figure out which to buy.....Argh! I'm not much of a gamer so it would just be used as my computer monitor running at 1920x1080. heeeeelp! :)

not a gamer? get the dell 30"

i own both dell 30" and westy 37" and prefer the 30" just because of the resolution...the 37" will be better for gamers since the lower res(vid card capability) and lots of inputs (xbox 360,ps3,wii,etc)

Not with the DVI connector, you cant.

I asked the same question over on the AVS thread and some folks have come forward saying they had no problems doing 1920X1080@60Hz. In any event I'll let you guys know for sure, mine is being delivered this friday.

Quoted. 2560x1600 is unbeatable for desktop apps, professional editing, etc. Besides, the 3000wfp has a lackluster 11ms response time which makes it unfit for games, but good enough for anything else.

With OLED later this year ,I think LCD's and PLASMA's will drop considerably in price. On a side note there is a new Samsung 32" LCD out with 8000:1 contrast ratio

Yeah, don't hold your breath, especially until there are actually affordable OLED models that will represent a threat to LCD and Plasma.

hey bm5, could you test to see if you can indeed do 1080p at 60hz? Also, if you have a 360, can you test if the components take 1080p? Thanks in advance.

I don't believe Future Shop has the LC-37GP1U or LC-32GP1U.

No,but they did have product brochures, and one of the sales reps I spoke with said it could not do 19x10 past 50Hz on pc/dvi when I said I wanted to use it on a pc.I came home a few hours later and looked at AVS forums and saw the same thing mentioned there as well.if it does thats great ! I dont own one,and was merely passing on what I had heard and seen on another forum.
