Recently, a friend asked me to build her a computer like mine. I thought, 'Hey, why not sell her mine, and build myself a new one?'

So, I sold her my system for $400. It consisted of:

Shuttle SN41G2 with only mod being a nice panaflo in the rear.
2500+ Barton
512 M PC3200
WD 120GB SE HD
Nec 2510A burner

Pretty good deal for her, right?

Well, I just got done ordering the parts for my new system:

Aopen EZ65 i865g based SFF box
2.4c chip
1 gig pc3200
WD 36.7 Raptor
NEC2500A burner (was quite happy with my old one)

I plan to do at least a little OCing, as I hear that chip runs very well. My 2500+ ran perfect @ 2 gigs. This thing I hope to get closer to 3.

Think I'll be happy with the new system?

I like the case. Are you going to be able to deal with the loss of so much hard drive space?
 
Ever since I got my dvd burner and found blank ritek's for $0.38 each, I just burn a disc with my newest stuff every now and again. I actually installed windows on a 40 gb partition a few months ago on this system, and haven't even formatted the rest of this drive.

So, I'll be ok with the little space...and the speed will make it all worth it, I'm thinking.

That Cube is sexy. Wish I could afford Intel... Oh well, stick with my barton 2500 for now ;-)

I really like this System so was just wondering..
 
Never said they didn't. But as you can see he is running a p4 in it so no go. If you really want to buy it and another motherbaord swapping the one that comes with it and the one you bought.

Ummm, this has been a known issue since Prescotts were launched a year ago. Their biggest problem *other then their performance is no better then the older Northwood cores* is they emitt HUGE amounts of heat in comparision to AMD 64's. Hence why shuttle had to build a whole new system the SB81 to cool such a hot processor. That, and their shoving this whole new BTX case standard to just cool down their piss ass processors.

Guys, seriously...settle down on the intel thing.

I've built about 6 or 7 computers for myself in the last several years. I worked my way through 266 to 266a then up to 400 and then 600 with the via. I tried an nf 1 chipset and moved to an nf2 then back to via then back to nf2.

I just figured i'd try something different. For all intents and purposes this machine feels just about as fast as the shuttle nf2 when i had it clocked around 2 gigs. with stock cooling and very quiet volumes, this thing ran prime95 for hours with the bus clocked at 250 mhz and the 2.4c running @ 3 gig. It might not be the best overclock, but so fat i have no complaints about the box whatsoever.

I can rip a dvd in about 20 minutes, I can burn a ritek 4x disc at 8x which my burner isn't even supposed to handle, and it works in my standalone dvd player.

Windows installed in less than 20 minutes, and has worked flawlessly since.

The only difference i've noticed so far is that i can rip a movie in half at full speed and still watch divx, or listen to music and play on the internet.

And the chip only cost me $40 more than my 2500+ did and the box cost me less than the refurbed outdated amd shuttle i just had.

So, really, intel, amd...its actually hard to tell the difference in real world usage.
