Hey guys. Thanks to the catastrophic death of both my main rig (IC7-G R.I.P) and the IG80 in my SFF, I've set myself up to build a mid-performance SFF to tide me over until I rebuild my main rig - probably after conroe arrives. After which, I'm planning to switch this over to a total Linux box, so components have to be Linux friendly. (That's why I didn't pick the DFI motherboard or an ATI gfx card)

I'm using a mix of new and old components - some are on their way from newegg and others are sitting in my now defunct Antec Aria. Let me know what you think

Case - NEW Silverstone SG01 Evolution in Silver
Motherboard - NEW Biostar Tforce-6100 939
Power Supply - NEW Enermax Liberty 620w (140mm - the smallest, most powerful modular power supply I've found with good ratings)
Processor - TBA. Anyone with a S939 to sell, please check out my thread in the Buy/Sell forum!
Sound card- OLD Sound blaster audigy 2 ZS. Maybe an X-Fi eventually
Video Card - OLD MSI GeForce 6600GT 128. Strongly considering an upgrade.
HDD- OLD 74gb Raided Raptors, 160gb Seagate SATA
Optical - OLD Plextor Dual Layer SATA DVD burner (Will this fit? I also have an old Sony)
Cooling - OLD Zalman 7000B-CU for processor (this is the biggest that will fit, and perform the best, yes?), 2 Zalman slim fans to be modded into the sides of the case, and whatever the Silverstone comes with

Any suggestions, glaring errors, or things I'm forgetting?
 
Ahh thanks. I noticed he added the special crossflow fan. I'll be sure to put that on my shopping list.

Hmm. It seems I'm going to need a good, solid fan controller for this build. Currently I have a small lian li 3-fan that was in my aria, but I'm thinking I may need something bigger/more powerful/capable of controlling more fans. I was thinking a Matrix Orbital display, but I didn't want it to be software dependant. Any advice on a good, single bay fan controller? As of right now the Zalman seems to be the top pick, but I am considering something digital, like the Aerocool Coolpanel 2.

Apparently some of my RAM went bad, so I ordered a new kit - this time 2gb. I also picked up the Silverstone cross flow fan made for the SG01-E.They should both arrive soon.

I'm wondering which fans I should hook up to the fan controller. Right now I have the Zalman, the fan on the HDD cage, and the fan directly above the expansion card slots. These are all controlled with temp probes. I wonder if this will be sufficient or should I put the CPU fan directly on the motherboard.

I have another problem in that, as I see it, only one PCI-E GFX card and one PCI card can be inserted at the same time. Even with my little 6600 w/default cooler, installing a PCI card in the slot right next to it would nearly be touching. I have a RAID card I want to use, but am not sure how I'd go about installing it without sacrificing my sound card, especially if I invest in a more powerful video card.
 
New RAM and FX121 arrived today. Ram is installed. However, it appears that the Zalman 7000BCU is too wide - I can't fit the FX121 in the case, without squishing the heatsink. Is there anyone using a SG01-E with the FX121 and Zalman7000B?
 
hey does the onboard internet work ok with that new biostar? I'm thinking about rmaing my rs482 for a biostar and am wondering if they fixed the onboard internet problems they were having with some of them.
