Hey All,
I am looking at putting together my first water cooling loop. I want to do a WC setup partly because it'd be nice to overclock my 2.6ghz i7 but also because i love putting things together and tinkering etc! At the moment i am only wanting to cool the CPU, there is a possibility i'd want to do more later but i'll see how the one block goes first.
I figured if i list down the items i am considering the more experienced water coolers can highlight any issues or missed considerations.
Shopping List :
Pump : 12V Laing DDC-1T Pro 10W w/Alphacool Top (link)
Radiator : Black Ice GTS-Lite 240 Radiator (link)
Res : Aquacomputer Aquabay AT Rev 1.5 standard (Mounting Frame for Aquatube) (link)
Res : Aquacomputer Aquatube G1/4" Black Delrin (link)
Res : Aquacomputer FrontRadiator Grill for Aquabay AT Aluminium Black (link)
Fans : Scythe Slip Stream Slim 1200 rpm 120x120x12mm (link)
Water Block : XSPC Rasa CPU Waterblock 775 / 1156 / 1366 - Black (link or link)
Barbs : I'll use some standard compression fittings, but for the CPU i'll probably use two 45* angled ones to keep the hoses tidy
Hose : Masterkleer Hose Pack PVC 13/10mm (3/8ID) Clear/UV Blue (link)
Coil : PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 1/2" - Black (just because i like the look it gives)(link)
Coolant : Not sure which yet. Any recommendations?
With that list i have the following questions/comments :
1 / I have purposely chosen a slim radiator and slim fans in order to keep them as 'out-of-the-way' as possible. I read that for each block you should have at least 120 of fan/rad ... therefore is a slim 240 sufficient for an i7 overclock?
2 / I have heard good things about the XSPC Rasa, but i love the look of the Koolance CPU-370 (CPU) Rev1.1 or possibly the new XSPC RayStorm ( when its released), looks alone dont justify the price jump though, so would i see any difference in temps by using the more expensive water block?
At times it feels like i grasp most of the concepts whilst at other times it feels rather daunting ( though rather exciting! ). Here is a rough layout of what i am thinking, though the sizes are very rough approximations :

For reference i am running a CM690 ( the first version ), 2.6ghz i7 (1366), asus p6t deluxe (not the v2).
All advice is very much appreciated. Its one of those things where i think i have all the bases covered, but as i have never done a WC setup it would be re-assuring to get a second opinion!
