What are you going to use it for?

This will be our 2nd virtual server host

the first one is running a quad core, with 8 gigs of ram.

PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!

:D

Anyhoo, it should make for a nice, responsive virtual server with nice, responsive VMs.

Yep, I really love those Poweredge 2900. Price is right and performance is just awesome.

Combine 2 of them with a small iscsi SAN, and you have a very powerful setup on your hand.

Setup like this was so much more expensive just a yr or 2 ago.

The O/S is still undecided.

I may give Windows Server 08 a run..and see if Hyper-V is working correctly.

If not, it will be Windows 03 Enterprise R2 x64.

We just got a couple of nice HP DL580's in, 128gb mem, quad quad 7350's, should make for a nice VM machine.... now if I can only show up when no one is here... :D

forget about this.. I've forgot about the DL580 G5.

It's not showing yet on the hp.ca website.

 NICE!

Wasted without a SAN. Totally wasted. Of course, had to wait for 3.5.1 or whatever the latest and greatest is to get it working properly. But there's something nice about being to float VMs between racks.

I HATE YOU DUDE!

:eek::eek::eek:

Was feeling nice and smug about my "The Ocho" build, and you had to come along and piss in my cornflakes.

I'm gonna go off and cry now...

Oh, and if you get the chance, grab one of them for me too...:D

A massive SAN implementation is following, this is just the start.
