New server for my work, opinions...

Forum gave error trying to post, so sorry if it double posts...

So anyhow my work finally gave me the authorization I've been requesting to replace this old IBM Netfinity 7500r (P3 900 (dual), 512mb SD-100 ECC, 7.6gb SCSI160 hard drive, 3U chassis. Adaptec SCSI RAID card /w 64mb cache.

Basically this server hosts two database apps and a 9 drive RAID 50 array (9 Seagate 15k RPM 73.6gb drives) for data storage.

So this server has been crapping out lately and I am replacing it with this:
1U chassis
Dual Opteron 250
2gb DDR400 ECC
2 10k RPM 146gb drives in RAID 0 (internal)
IBM scsi RAID /w 256mb cache.

So what do you guys think og the choice?

Redundancy would be a very wise thing unless the data is not mission critical.. heck... even plain needed.

Get a minimum of 3 drives, put them in RAID 5. If you can afford it, a hot spare to boot..
