The 200gig Maxtor I bought last Black Friday up and died on me today, so I went to Fry's and picked this up for $120.

The 200gig Maxtor that died was just a backup/storage drive so I won't be putting an OS on the Seagate that will replace it. My problem is I can't put anything on this thing. It's SATA, but my main drive is a 74gig raptor which is also SATA. If I hook both drives up at the same time, startup hangs at the "Windows" loading screen. If I connect just the new Seagate by itself, I get a disk error before startup. Even installing the Seagate utility CD won't help, and I can't install a fresh copy of Windows because it just won't become recognized, even if I hit F6 and load up the SATA drivers. Any ideas? Maybe I'll look for MSI's tech support number tomorrow.

change the HDD boot order in the bios or if that cannot be done, swap the ports on the mobo between the raptor and the other drive.

Can't change the boot order because the computer's not seeing the new seagate drive. Port swapping..just with the cable? Or through the BIOS? I've tried swapping and changing the sata cables and HDD's with no luck.

Quick update:

Fixed the problem. Found out my motherboard has two "SATA" connections and two "Serial" connections. Both drives were plugged into the SATA ports and did not work, but plugged into the Serial ports everything was fine.
