Okay, so I'm new to the SATA drives and I just got one to put in the system I'm building for my bro. But it's not being recognized by the mobo - Asus A8V Deluxe - so I have no way of installing windows on it. How would I go about doing this? Could I install it a different ATA drive first the ghost it or something? Or can I just install some driver during the windows set up to allow me to install it on to that? Second thing is in the manual it says the mobo does not support like "hot plugging" or something of the SATA drives, is that what I need and don't have? Thanks.

If your boards chipset doesnt have native SATA support, you need to install the drivers that came with the mobo - they should be on a floppy. If you dont have one, get them from Asus website and put them on one 
If you dont have a floppy drive, make a slipstream copy of XP with the SATA drivers on it - search the forum for more on slipstreaming.
Once you have the drivers, hit f6 when XP boots from the CD, install and away you go. Next time buy a Nforce3 250 board which has native SATA support
